Lawn care: fertilizing the lawn, part 2

Self-tutoring about lawn care: the tutor continues….

Back in my post on June 16, 2023, I make some reflections about fertilizing the lawn. It’s not always been my favourite idea, but I know my wife likes the lawn to look nice, so this year I gave it another try.

As I mention in my earlier post, Bob Vila seems to indicate that a key for success is to fertilize the lawn when it is actively growing. This year, I seem to have caught that wave, one might say: I fertilized it after the first mowing, I believe.

The lawn showed improvement after around ten days. Not only did the grass thicken, but it showed a new colour, adopting a bluish tinge. It’s continued to improve.

My belief is that the best fertilizer for a lawn is probably cuttings from healthy grass. Therefore, I’ve been mowing the lawn when it needs it, which is more often since application of the fertilizer.
