Math: sin in Firefox Google Search
Tutoring math, angles in different measures come up. The tutor mentions the Google Search Bar for sin.
Most people familiar with sin probably expect the result 0.5 for sin30°. Tonight, in the Google Search Bar on Firebox, I keyed in sin30 and got -0.988. Why?
The search bar is thinking 30 rads, not 30 degrees. Although they are learned after degrees, rads are the “natural” way angles are measured, and many calculating devices default to rads.
Apparently, you can explain you mean 30 degrees by keying 30deg. When I keyed in sin30deg, I got 0.5 like you’d expect.
