Smartphone email: clear cache?

Self-tutoring about smartphones and email: the tutor mentions a recent solution he encountered.

In my post from April 18 I mention an email stall on my smartphone and how I fixed it – that time.

I encountered another stall a few days back on the same phone. It was a simple, one-page image I wanted to send, which was likely around 400KB, so shouldn’t have been problematic. It wouldn’t send: Even after I’d restarted the phone, the email resided in the OutBox, apparently making its home there.

My wife came to the rescue, using her much newer phone to photograph the page I needed, then forward it. However, to meet expectations, I need my phone to take and send pictures; I can’t depend on workarounds.

My wife’s thinking-aloud suggestion: “Maybe you need a new phone.” (That’s another story for another post.) I’m not willing to give up on it just yet, so I looked up what to do.

It was mentioned, to clear the email cache. I clear the browser’s cache from time to time, but wasn’t aware the email cache was important. “Clearing an app’s cache sometimes fixes problems,” an article opined. Therefore, I cleared the email cache. Since then, the phone has emailed pictures, no sweat.
