A couple of days ago I had to email some photos from a smartphone. I sent them, but they remained in the outbox; apparently they wouldn’t depart. I wondered if something was wrong.

Needing the photos to arrive, I turned off the phone, waited about 30 seconds, then turned it back on. The photos soon departed for their destination.
