Aviation: ground effect
Self-tutoring about aviation terms: the tutor mentions ground effect.
ground effect: increase of effective lift when craft flies closely over a surface such as the ground. The closer the wings are to the surface, the more pronounced the ground effect, so high-winged aircraft experience it less than low-winged models. Therefore, a low-winged craft may take off easier than a high-winged one, yet need a longer distance to land, due to the ground effect.
