Aviation: what is FOD?
Self-tutoring about aviation: the tutor mentions FOD.
FOD: foreign object debris or foreign object damage.
As I understand, FOD is strongly associated with jet engines, whose air intake can draw in nearby articles such as trash, loose vegetation (from an airfield), or even birds. Jet intakes can be particularly open to the environment, and their drawing power can be much greater than other types of engines, from my understanding.
