MS Word: alt-x
Self-tutoring about Word: the tutor mentions a function for inserting special characters.
The key sequence alt-x is very useful for inserting symbols in MS-Word. After entering the character’s code number, pressing alt-x will replace those digits with the actual character. For instance, 03c3 then alt-x will produce the Greek lower case sigma (σ).
