Music: Chuck Mangione, “Feels So Good”

Self-tutoring about music: the tutor reveals a favourite.

Just because you hear a song in an elevator, does that make it elevator music? If so, a lot of great music – likely the best – is. Such an example is “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione.

I know little about Chuck, but I recall “Feels So Good” from when I was a kid. It was released in ’77 and, even though it’s an instrumental, apparently managed to chart #4 in 1978.

A few years back, out of the blue, I heard it in an elevator. “This time,” I thought, “I’m going to discover the name of this amazing song.”

For me, finding the name of “Feels So Good” wasn’t easy. I didn’t know any trumpet players, so started with searches like “famous instrumentals of the 70s”. Maybe in an hour I found the song’s title.

“Feels So Good” is very 70s – energetic and larger than life:)
