Canadian geography: weather comparison: Dec 1, 2, 2020

Self-tutoring about Canadian weather: the tutor mentions Campbell River’s temperature in comparison with Summerside, PEI, Dec 1 and 2, 2020.

Looking around, you can see that Canada’s west coast is very popular. There is great recreation out here – skiing and boating, for instance. (Yet, I don’t do either.) However, the main draw here, vs the east coast, seems to be the weather.

We get flowers in February here. I just saw some new ones blooming in someone’s yard a few days back. In fact, mild years out here, there are flowers of one kind or another, blooming outside, every month of the year. I don’t know about the Maritimes’ climate nowadays, but in the late 80s, when I moved from there out here, flowers in February, to a Maritimer, seemed hard to imagine.

Interestingly, though, Summerside, PEI, had a high of 15C on Tuesday, Dec 1, and 14C yesterday (Dec 2). Here in Campbell River, the respective high temps were 6C and 2C, don’t you know.

As I recall from the 80s, Maritime weather in fall and winter isn’t consistent like here, but they can get very warm temperatures any month, for a couple of days.
