Cooking: oven French fries
Self-tutoring about home fries without a fryer: the tutor mentions a technique
First, I preheat the oven to 450°F.
I cut the potatoes, just with a knife, roughly into French fry dimensions, then toss them in a bowl with about 1 tbsp oil per every two cups cut fries. Next, I add salt, pepper, and seasoning salt (liberally). Finally, I resume tossing them until all the fries are equally covered with oil and seasoning (more or less).
I dump out the uncooked fries onto one or more oven trays, one layer per tray. Next, I bake them in the oven for 15 minutes, turn them, then put them in for another 15 minutes. After that, they’re done.
Usually I need to put the trays on separate levels. I switch them halfway through, since the bottom level is hotter.
