Physics: torque

Tutoring physics, fundamental concepts arise. The tutor mentions torque.

Torque is essentially leverage applied to an object to start it spinning. A common context is a shaft or axle on bearings; the torque might be supplied by a drive chain, belt, or perpendicular shaft.

Another case for torque is when you loosen a screw or bolt. The torque is applied, via the wrench, to the head of the fastener (the screw or bolt). The fastener may resist at first, but commonly it starts to turn because of the torque applied.
