Electronic lifestyle: artificial intelligence utilities

Self-tutoring about the electronic lifestyle: the tutor mentions the focus on AI these days.

Late last winter, I heard about ChatGPT. Soon, acquaintances of mine were using it. They got advice from ChatGPT about what to make for dinner, how to plan a birthday party…you name it. Moreover, it wasn’t long before I heard about other AI engines that are out there for public consumption.

Yet, I couldn’t help but theorize that an AI engine simply slices and dices data from a large base, then serves it up, hoping it’s as close as possible to what you want to hear about. Ultimately, you’re just hearing what someone else said about the issue.

It’s true, an AI application can parse through a lot of data in order to find what it thinks you’ve asked it about. It’s perhaps the speed with which it’s done that’s truly impressive. However, the data needs to be in the base already so the AI app can serve it up. In that way, the AI is still dependent on people.

That’s how I understand the situation, anyway.
