Canadian politics: tax cut?
Self-tutoring about Canadian politics: the tutor looks at the feasibility of a tax cut in Canada.
During this election campaign, some platforms may include tax cuts. However, that might not be wise for a federal government to carry out.
It seems that in 2024, the federal deficit in Canada was around 62B, while in 2023 it was around 35B.
Relative to government revenues, it seems the 2024 federal deficit was around 13 percent; in 2023, 8 percent.
It seems like folly to hope for a tax cut when the government is running a deficit, even if the government will allow it.
