US Politics: US Senate vote against justification for tariffs against Canada
Self-tutoring about US politics: the tutor mentions a development in the US Senate that might be promising.
US politics is always interesting, particularly, perhaps, regarding the Senate. US Senators, it seems, can be themselves in way other politicians may not. Moreover, they don’t always vote along party lines. The interests of a Senator’s particular state seem to be elevated in a way that doesn’t always happen elsewhere in politics.
Yesterday evening, apparently, such an example happened: it seems the US Senate passed a resolution against the justification for tariffs against Canada, despite the Republicans’ apparent Senate majority.
It seems the President reacted to the passage of the resolution by opining that the House of Representatives won’t approve it. Yet, from what I’ve read, it appears the Republican Senate majority, at 53 vs 47, is more significant than its majority in the House of Representatives, at 218 to 215. Therefore, one might suspect that the resolution will be passed more easily in the House.
Interesting, eh?
