French: verbs with multiple meanings, part1: manquer

Self-tutoring about French: the tutor mentions the verb manquer.

The following is by my understanding.

I visit the idea of verbs with multiple meanings with the case of the French verb faire, in my post from April 9, 2022. Now, I continue with the French verb manquer.

In French, manquer can mean “to miss”: for instance,

J’ai manqué le match./I missed the game.

Yet, it can also mean “to lack”:

They lack enough time to prepare./Ils manquent assez de temps pour se préparer.

When it comes to French, I’m no expert. This is just something I’ve noticed in my reading.
