Astronomy: Mars, perhaps

Self-tutoring about observations in the night sky: the tutor mentions one.

For months I’ve been noticing a red body in the night sky. Now, with darkness around 5pm, the body is evident earlier. I can’t be sure when it’s central in the sky, but I’d say it’s prominent in the southeast around 7pm.

Today I found timeanddate.com has an interactive map showing Mars’ appearance. It suggests that Mars is due south at around 8pm, at altitude of 48.7°. For now, that’s the best idea of what this red body could be.
