Biology: budding
Tutoring biology, methods of reproduction arise. The tutor mentions budding.
Budding is a type of asexual reproduction in which a new individual starts as a growth from its parent, but then may eventually separate or else just function independently.
Potato plants offer an example of budding. The tuber, which is the part of the potato plant people eat, will sprout (bud) new plants if left alone. The eyes on the tuber (most people call the tuber itself a potato) are where the buds start from. These buds will become plants that will be clones of the parent whence the tuber grew.
Budding can also happen in some animals, such as jellyfish.
