Calculator usage: the Sharp EL-510RN: degs to rads
Tutoring high school math, converting from degrees to radians comes up. The tutor mentions how to convert from degs to rads on the Sharp EL-510RN.
With scientific calculators, converting from degrees to rads isn’t necessarily equally convenient from model to model. If you’re holding a Sharp EL-510RN, however, it seems you’re in luck.
Top row, second button from the left, is the DRG button, which sets the measurement unit of the angle but does not convert it. This key can be used to get DEG showing top middle.
Let’s say you are in degrees (DEG is showing top middle of the screen). To get an angle in rads, key it, then press the 2ndF button (top left), then the 3 key. Your angle should now appear in rads.
For example, with DEG across the top, keying in 30 then 2ndF then 3 should give 0.5235…. That’s my experience, anyway:)
