Calculator use: rationalizing the denominator on the Sharp EL-W535
Tutoring math, calculator use comes up. The tutor mentions using the Sharp EL-W535 WriteView.
The following is by my understanding.
I show back in my post from Aug 17, 2026 a case of rationalizing the denominator by multiplying both numerator and denominator by the conjugate. However, some hand-held calculators will do the operation automatically.
If one enters the fraction 1/(2-√3) into the Sharp EL-W535 WriteView, then presses =, the answer 2+√3 will appear. In this case, the Sharp EL-W535 realizes that the intended operation is to simplify, so rationalizes the denominator and displays it the way a human would.
