Calculators: cell replacement

Self-tutoring about calculator maintenance: the tutor mentions some reassuring news.

The scientific calculator I use is typically a Casio fx-260Solar. It’s robust, but reverse-entry, so not the most popular with people born after 1990.

The forward-entry calculators here all seem to use cells. Lately, a couple of them have been a bit sluggish. I wondered if they are just wearing out, but decided to change the cells.

I was surprised to find a bit of residue on a couple of the cells. Having removed them, I wiped the metal contacts clean. Next, I replaced them with fresh cells: type LR44, as it happened. The calculators regained their liveliness:)
