Canadian politics: BC in Canada
Self-tutoring about Canadian politics: the tutor brings up an interesting idea mentioned by an interior premier.
The following is according to my understanding.
Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, has mentioned that ‘there is no BC coast’ because the west coast is Canada’s coast. The same goes for the ports in BC: he claims that, as a Canadian, he feels just as much ownership in them as if he were a resident thereof. From that point of view, he suggests that interprovincial infrastructure projects are the jurisdiction of the federal government.
It seems Scott Moe has presented the scenario in a surprising, yet convincing, way. Moreover, we are seeing, the world over, political paralysation from internal division.
Perhaps diversifying away from the US requires all Canada’s advantages. Canada has always prided itself on having three coasts; might the time to fully appreciate them be now?
Interesting, eh?
