Christmas cards, 2024: a special situation

I mentioned back on my post from Dec 19 about sending Christmas cards, whether or not they might arrive before Christmas.

Often, one or two cards come back just after Christmas. I assume, in such cases, those senders weren’t expecting Christmas cards from me. When they would get one – maybe around Dec 15 in a normal year – they would quickly send one back, as if such had been the plan all along.

I’ve heard numerous estimates of when the Christmas mail will finally be cleared this year. Suppose someone gets a Christmas card on January 15, 2025. Will they then turn around and send one back? It might be less nebulous this year, what the original lists were.
