Food: honey not vegan?

Self-tutoring about vegan rules: the tutor mentions the situation with honey.

I was under the impression that being vegan means one doesn’t eat animal products – meat, eggs, or dairy. Apparently, there’s more to it.

Honey is not aligned with the vegan philosophy because its production harnesses the labour of bees, which make honey for their own purposes, rather than to be harvested by humans.

Therefore, from the ethical angle that one shouldn’t exploit animals, honey isn’t vegan.
