Current events: cluster bombs

Self-tutoring about current events, with a side of history: the tutor mentions cluster bombs.

Cluster bombs are in the news again: apparently the US suggests it will deliver some to the Ukraine for use against the invasion.

A cluster bomb, apparently, contains many smaller bombs that eject from it and explode independently, covering a wide area with anti-personnel shrapnel. It’s a controversial type of munition because of its potential to cause collateral damage.

Decades ago I read about a police raid on a gang in some city in the US. Among the arms seized was a cluster bomb. Numerous of the police had never seen one, and were very surprised and curious about how a gang had managed to possess one.
