Energy: renewable natural gas

Self-tutoring about energy: the tutor mentions the idea of renewable natural gas.

Renewable natural gas, or RNG, originates from breakdown of organic materials. These can be manure, landfill waste, crop leftovers, food leftovers, sewage, etc. Having these break down in the absence of oxygen will yield methane (CH4) with other gases. Purification can be applied to separate the methane, which is the desired gas, from the others, to the point where it’s fit for common natural gas applications such as home heating or automotive fuel.

One common use of RNG is electricity production.
