English:poetry:Paul Simon, “Slip Slidin’ Away,” part 1

Self-tutoring about poetry and meanings: the tutor mentions “Slip Slidin’ Away.”

God only knows
God makes his plan
The information’s unavailable
To the mortal man
–Paul Simon, “Slip Slidin’ Away”

I recall “Slip Slidin’ Away” from when I was a kid. It’s packed with meaning, so I hope to write numerous posts about it.

We might feel we need to see the big picture. Yet sometimes it’s so big, we can’t see it. During such times, while working at defined, specific goals, awareness can crystallize. Perhaps said awareness doesn’t capture the bigger picture, but instead reassurance that not knowing it is meant to be. Even if we’re “slip slidin’ away”, maybe that’s God’s plan. Did Paul Simon let it slip when he wrote the song?
