Household chores, lifestyle: allergy to latex

Self-tutoring about household chores and products: the tutor looks at allergy to latex and possible alternatives to latex gloves.

I wash a lot of dishes, always with gloves. Last night my wife brought home two new pairs of them, since my last one had worn out.

I examined both pairs, which were different brands. One says both “Natural Latex” and “Natural Rubber Latex”; the other, both “Latex” and “Natural Rubber Latex.”

I’m not allergic to latex. Yet, I started to wonder: does allergy to latex mean allergy to natural rubber? If so, what are the alternatives for people who are allergic to latex?

From my reading, it seems that allergy to latex means allergy to natural rubber as well.

Some alternatives to latex gloves, it seems, are nitrile gloves, as well as vinyl.
