Lifestyle: overheard conversations in a department store, part0

Self-tutoring about bargain shopping angst: the tutor mentions a gem he overheard.

Yesterday my wife and I went bargain shopping in earnest. You might say we got more than we bargained for.

We started in the purse/handbag section, then moved to the shoes. The store was busy, and many shelves already had obvious vacancy. It was a great setting for an observer: lots of movement, yet not too crowded. Many of the shoppers were serious.

I didn’t know my wife was on a mission until she started trying on running shoes. This store doesn’t have seats; you just try them on standing in the aisle.

I was looking at various colourful shoes in the racks, none of which my wife tried. Next I overheard, seemingly from a couple of aisles away,

…but do I really need high-healed rain boots?

As I say: these were serious shoppers. It wasn’t the only quote I overhead yesterday that alerted me just how invested they were.

Best of luck with your post-holiday bargain shopping:)
