Lifestyle: what to do when you can’t sleep

Self-tutoring about lifestyle: the tutor mentions a trend in his life.

The last few years, I don’t sleep so well as before. I might feel very tired at 23:30, but awaken at 02:30. My mind races – it won’t rest. What to do?

I used to wait for sleep, which sometimes would be hours. By around 04:30 I’d return to sleep.

Nowadays, I get up and do research, etc: some of my best work is done before sunrise. This morning, I’ve watched the sky lighten.

I think people worry about not being able to sleep because they’re not used to it and think they should be sleeping. However, perhaps not everybody needs to so much. When I get up in the middle of the night, I go to bed earlier next time, but I’m not that tired during the day.
