Math, calculator usage: reducing fractions on the Casio fx-260Solar Fraction, Solar II scientific calculators
Tutoring math, the fraction button can offer workarounds. The tutor mentions how to reduce fractions on the Casio fx-260Solar Fraction and Casio fx-260Solar II models.
The following is according to my understanding.
Reducing a fraction means putting it in lowest terms: for instance, 14/10 reduces to 7/5.
On a Casio fx-260Solar Fraction model, as well as on the Casio fx-260Solar II, the fraction button looks like this: ab/c. The way to enter a fraction is top number, fraction button, bottom number. Or, if one prefers, numerator, fraction button, denominator.
After keying in the fraction, then pressing =, the reduced fraction appears. However, if it’s in a different form, one might need to press Shift, then the fraction button to return to the first form.
