Math: common factoring with a decimal

Tutoring math, one might see this sometimes. The tutor mentions an example.

The following is by my understanding.

Back in my post from May 21, 2013 I show some ideas about common factoring. Today, I will show an example with a decimal.

Example: factor 0.2x^3 – 3x^2 + x

Solution:

0.2 will go into all integers, since 5*0.2=1. Therefore, one can take it out front as a common factor, along with x:

0.2x(x^2 – 15x + 5)

Note that 0.2*-15=-3.
