Physics, Chemistry: scientific notation on the Casio fx-260Solar

Tutoring physics and chemistry, scientific notation is important. The tutor mentions hints about it for users of the beloved Casio fx-260Solar.

Over the years, the Casio fx-260Solar has been a faithful friend. It’s affordable, yet fully functional for a science degree student, so far as I know. The ones I have – all bought more than ten years ago – are reverse entry. For me, that’s fine: all calculators I knew of were like that when I was in high school. That was in the 80s.

It’s easy to convert back and forth between normal and scientific notation on the Casio fx-260Solar. From normal form, Mode->8->9 gives the number in scientific notation to nine digits. (To alter the number of digits displayed, change the second number.) Mode->9 changes the number from scientific to normal form.

Such is my experience.
