Retrospect, tools: jigsaw, part 1
Self-tutoring about people and events from the past: the tutor mentions a jigsaw.
I recall shop class, grade 7; the sewing room was next door. Yet, the sewing teacher was often in the shop, using the jigsaw. I never used it; our projects involved the band saw. Our teacher had shown us the jigsaw the first week of class, but said that, for our purposes, the band saw would be better.
I wondered what the sewing teacher worked on with the jigsaw. Was it patterns for sewing? Whatever it was, she often used the jigsaw, but I can’t recall her using the band saw.
Yesterday, for the first time ever, I used a jigsaw. The reason was to cut some softwood about 5/8″ thick. I wondered, once again, what the sewing teacher made using the jigsaw, in the shop class, all those years ago.
