Vocabulary: sorb

Self-tutoring about vocabulary: the tutor mentions a word he discovered.

In my reading about soil nutrients I came across the word sorb. At first I wondered if it was intentional, but it seems so.

Sorb, apparently, includes absorb and adsorb: what is sorbed is accumulated by either absorption or adsorption. Absorption is probably more familiar, while adsorption, as I understand, is when particles are attracted, so stick to, a surface, but don’t enter it.
