Zoology: bactrian camel: omnivore?
Self-tutoring about the bactrian camel: the tutor mentions a surprise he found.
I’ve always believed camels are herbivores. Yet, two sources I can easily find suggest that bactrian camels (the two-humped kind) are omnivores.
While bactrian camels prefer to eat plants, they will scavenge carcasses, eat fish, or elsewise consume flesh when there’s nothing else to eat.
What an adaptation – a large hoofed mammal being omnivorous. I was surprised to read about it.
