Electronics: negative temperature coefficient

Self-tutoring about electronics: the tutor looks at the resistance of semiconductors relative to change in temperature.

Generally, semiconductors, such as silicon, lose resistance as temperature increases. This can be noticed as a negative temperature coefficient, since resistance reacts in the opposite direction to temperature.

The reason why a semiconductor’s resistance decreases with increasing temperature is the promotion of electrons from the bonding state to the conducting one.

Such is my understanding.
