Music: minor key
Self-tutoring about music: the tutor mentions the key of a song.
I forget what song it was, but someone mentioned one time how ironic it was that a bright, cheery pop song was actually in a minor key. Minor keys are sometimes explained to music students as sounding sad, while major ones are thought to be bright and cheery.
The other night I was listening to “Shake Your Booty” by KC and the Sunshine Band. It came to mind that, indeed, it seemed to be in a minor key. Indeed, “Shake Your Booty” is, apparently, in B flat minor. Yet, one might be pressed to find a happier-sounding, more upbeat song.
