Autos: tire pressure change with temp, part 2

Self-tutoring about tire pressure through seasons: the tutor continues…

The following is according to my understanding.

I mention, back in my post from Oct 17, 2025, how tire pressure can change due to temperature. Specifically, it might change by about one psi for every ten degrees Fahrenheit (which is a change of around six degrees Celsius).

With one of the vehicles, the on-board tire pressure sensor was complaining throughout the winter. I would check the pressure, but it was what was recommended inside the door of the vehicle.

Then, the weather warmed up fairly suddenly. I noticed, after a couple of rides, that the tire pressure sensor was no longer complaining. I was intrigued.

It turned out that, with the increase in outdoor temperature, the tire pressure had risen above the amount recommended on the door decal: 38psi rather than the recommended 36psi.

I left it that way; the vehicle’s been happy about its tire pressure ever since:)
