Socially, life seems much more complicated in Canada than 20 years ago. It’s very important to choose one’s words carefully, keep one’s thoughts to oneself, etc: life seems very political nowadays.
Interestingly, it seems Canada’s economic complexity has dropped over the same period, relative to the rest of the world. Canada’s economic complexity was 18th in 2001, 25th in 2011, and 32nd in 2021.
The question arises: does all this politicking we do in everyday life actually produce anything?
