Canadian weather: first day of spring 2024(?)

Self-tutoring about local weather in Canada: the tutor makes an observation about 2024.

I’ve mentioned over the years, in numerous posts, that really, spring weather doesn’t arrive to all parts of Canada at the same time. Therefore, although the first day of spring is supposed to be circa March 21, perhaps a more practical definition could be hoped for among Canadians. I’ve lived in some places in Canada where spring weather couldn’t be hoped for until mid-April. Out here on the west coast, however, spring weather can come before March 21.

Years ago I came up with a new definition for the first day of spring: the first sunny day after January 1 that witnesses a temp of at least 10°C.

Locally, that happened Monday, February 12, 2024.
