Economics: some economic complexity ratings

Self-tutoring about economics: the tutor mentions economic complexity of a few countries.

In my post from March 15 I mention economic complexity, which is a measure of the sophistication of the products a country exports.

According to the oec, Japan and Switzerland are numbers 1 and 2, respectively, in economic complexity. Chinese Taipei, South Korea, and Germany are 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

In 2011, the US was 7th; in 2021, it’s 10th. The UK, in both 2011 and 2021, is 11th place.

Canada was 18th in 2001, 25th, in 2011, and 32nd in 2021.
