English: iambic pentameter

Tutoring English, iambic pentameter eventually arises. The tutor defines it.

Iambic pentameter means that a line is ten syllables, with every second emphasized. (An iamb is two beats, the first one light, but the second accented. Pentameter means there are five of them.)

I’ll be talking about the uses of iambic pentameter in coming posts.
