Home computer use: staying logged in

Lifestyle tutoring, for me, always opens a discussion. The tutor brings up the issue whether to log out or not.

I’m not an accomplished social media user. However, for various reasons, I have numerous email accounts…it seems they accumulate with new software memberships, etc.

Often, when I log in, I notice an option to remain so. I opt to log out and back in each time, for the following reasons:

  1. I’m not the only user of any computer, so leaving that tab open will just annoy whoever comes next.
  2. Though I trust the other users of the computer, a mistake could happen: for instance, they could send an email from my account instead of theirs. (This possibility seems remote, but stranger things have happened:)

All that said, I do fantasize sometimes about having a laptop only I use, and just leaving everything logged in all the time, never having to key in passwords, etc. Each project would be just how I left it. For some reason, I imagine sitting at the beach, feeling the morning sea breeze, as I open the case, take a sip of coffee, then start typing….

Ironically, I don’t normally seek out the beach. How staying logged in might connect me to it, I’m not sure:)
