Gardening: compost in the summer
Self-tutoring about what to do with compost: the tutor mentions what he’s doing this summer.
This summer, for the first time ever, I’ve put together a small garden. The carrots, cukes, and pumpkins seem to be doing all right; the peppers never really came up. It’s a small garden with three rows.
Normally I drop the kitchen vegetable waste into a compost heap outside and turn it. However, I decided, this summer, to do something different: I just spread the it in the troughs between the planted rows of the garden. My idea is that this somewhat replenishes the soil as the nutrients are being used.
