Gardening: last year’s carrots

Self-tutoring about gardening: the tutor mentions the carrots from last year.

I planted carrots last spring in the garden. They probably fared the best of anything I planted, and a few times I harvested some and brought them into the house. Yet, they didn’t receive an emphatic welcome. I suspect some reasons might be that their size is inconsistent and they typically have some dirt on them.

I decided to pluck and eat the carrots one by one while in the garden, which I continue to do. I’ve eaten about a dozen during the past week; it’s been sunny, so I’ve spent long hours out there. From the ground, the carrots are sweet and crunchy, just like one might hope for. There might be another dozen left.
