Health: does the body remember obesity?

Apparently, when the body has been obese, its fat cells may recall that state, and may even continue to function in a way that promotes weight gain. Such can be expressed in difficult metabolism or increased inflammation, and can continue for two years post-obesity.

In general, biological systems tend to oppose change; obesity itself doesn’t happen overnight.

Such ideas suggest, even more, that one should avoid obesity, since it’s perhaps harder to correct than prevent.
