Health: why saturated fat increases ldl cholesterol

Self-tutoring about cholesterol: the tutor mentions the connection between saturated fat and ldl cholesterol.

By now, people who research cholesterol and health likely are aware that ldl cholesterol is generally seen as detrimental, while hdl cholesterol, beneficial. (See my post here.) Therefore, one generally wants to reduce ldl cholesterol.

It’s known that saturated fat tends to elevate ldl cholesterol (hereon referred to as just ldl), but why? It turns out that within the liver are ldl sensors. When they detect too much ldl, they trigger its reduction. However, saturated fat tends to dull the sensitivity of the ldl receptors. Therefore, rising levels of ldl aren’t necessarily detected, so aren’t curtailed.

Such is my understanding.
