Home computer use: mouse particulars, part0
Self-tutoring about home computer use: the tutor makes a couple of mouse observations.
I notice that the mouse I use doesn’t seem to work on glossy surfaces, so have wondered why not.
The first thing I’ve learned is that, if the mouse emits visible light to the surface below it, it’s optical. Moreover, if the surface it sits on is shiny, the reflected light (which the mouse depends on) may not be pointed enough to produce a good signal. A duller surface will likely work better, since it doesn’t redirect the light the way a shiny surface might. Such is my understanding, anyway.
