Humour: quote of the day

Self-tutoring about the humour of everyday exchanges: the tutor mentions one he overheard.

Yesterday, walking through a crowded building, I heard the following dialogue:

Person one: “Want some water?”

Person two: “Well, that sounds hydrating…sure.”

This was one of those background conversations that you hear over dozens of others. It wasn’t particularly loud. Whether it was the quality of their voices, the surprising reply to the question, or something else that made it dominate the voicescape, I’ve no idea.

Anyway, that was the funniest thing I heard yesterday.
