Lifestyle: shower confusion

Self-tutoring about living in alternate realities: the tutor mentions a coincidence.

A couple of weeks back I had a shower at home. A couple of hours later my son went to run some water in the bathtub, and I guess he got sprayed: I hadn’t pushed the shower button back down. I would probably have remembered that if I lived there all the time.

Yet, I wondered why I didn’t remember to push the shower button down. It had been a habit in the past; what had changed? I wondered, suspecting something else to be at play.

Today, at the other place, I took a shower. At the end, when I turned off the water, the shower button depressed automatically, so the next person who turns the water on would be taking a bath. I thought, “That’s the difference: this one, the shower button depresses by itself. That’s why I no longer do it at home.”

One doesn’t always realize when things change.
